Thank you George for this deeply sensitive and honest piece. Very few people speak with this level of transparency about the real psychological, social and financial pressures faced by entrepreneurs and self-employed people who operate outside traditional business structures or institutions.

What especially resonated with me was your honesty when you mentioned that even while supporting your family, there’s still this perception around you that you “should get a job” because employment is seen as safety and stability. What surprised me is realizing that this mindset isn’t tied to one local culture or specific society. It almost feels universal: the belief that a job equals security.

And honestly, that pressure can become extremely heavy, both mentally and financially, especially because independent business naturally comes with ups and downs. Some periods are strong, others are uncertain, and people outside this world often don’t fully understand the emotional weight that comes with carrying your own path.

Your framing of the “finite game vs infinite game” added another layer entirely. It gives entrepreneurs a very different lens through which to view their journey, while also helping outsiders understand why this path cannot be measured by conventional standards alone. And the truth is, most people probably won’t truly understand it unless they live it themselves.

Thank you for sharing perspectives like this. They make entrepreneurs feel seen in a real way, not through generic motivational language or AI slop talking points, but through something genuinely human and deeply recognizable.

A lot of this resonated. Especially the distinction between trying to predict the future, versus building the capacity to consciously participate with it.
