True abundance in every moment of business

It’s a deep, intuitive feeling that our existence should be one of abundance, that we should be supported for simply being ourselves and sharing our gifts.

I believe this intuition comes from a soulful place. It’s a recognition that we deserve to flourish, to play, and to be fully supported by the Universe for doing what lights us up.

This is why the gap between our current reality and that ideal can feel so painful. The stronger your passion and vision for your ideal work, the more acutely you might feel that gap. We wonder why it isn’t happening yet, why we aren’t already being paid to do simply what we love.

I believe that our souls came into this material world to practice and to learn. While we may one day — and I believe we absolutely will — return to a state of effortless abundance, our time here, right now, is about appreciating the journey.

And it’s about creating that heaven-on-earth for ourselves (and others) by engaging wisely with the practicalities of this world.

The Practical Truth About Money

A truth that bears repeating — our income comes from other people. They decide to give us money in exchange for something of value.

I have to remind myself of this simple idea again and again:

People pay for value they can’t easily find for free or don’t already possess.

Sometimes we believe our work is valuable, yet others don’t seem to agree enough to pay for it. This is usually a communication gap. They haven’t yet experienced the value you’re describing.

This is where marketing comes in. Authentic content creation. Market discovery. Creating aligned offers. These aren’t optional nice-to-haves. They’re required skills if we are to thrive in our business.

Tough Love About Value

There is another truth we must face — what feels valuable to us might not yet be as valuable to others as we think. We have lived through the experiences, the difficulties, and the transformations that led to our knowledge. That journey is what makes the lesson so precious to us.

Simply communicating the final result to someone who hasn’t walked a similar path doesn’t transfer the same value. You have to create a structure, a program, a pathway to help them have their own lived experience. Only then will they truly understand the transformation you offer.

3 Stage Journey of the Soulpreneur

1. Sell what others want you to sell. Meet the market where it is. This can also mean selling what you want, but at a price that is an easy “yes” for them.

2. Simultaneously, grow your true fans. Use authentic, consistent content to build a community that trusts you and values your voice.

3. Gradually, sell what YOU want to sell. As you educate your audience and build that foundation of trust, you will earn the credibility to successfully sell your passion projects.

Reframing the Daily Work

You can see this journey as a chore, a drag, an aberration from how things “should” be…

Or you can reframe it.

You can see it as the very reason you are here.

The reframe: You have to practice loving what you do now, so you can one day make money doing what you love.

Every single day, we have a choice. We can grit our teeth and bear the pain of the journey, or we can find a way to be happy and purposeful in the process. We can reframe every task as an act of joyful productivity.

Creativity as a Fitness Practice

Take creating content, for example. When I sit down to write or record a video, I don’t think, “I am brilliant and everyone needs to hear this.” I often have self-doubts about whether the execution will be any good!

So how do I show up consistently? I reframe it. I show up for my “creativity fitness.” I know that if I don’t practice, my muscles for exploring ideas and authentic expression will atrophy. I find joy in the practice itself.

I also show up to practice my connection to you, dear reader/viewer. I show up for the love of the practice and the love of the connection I am trying to build.

Selling as an Act of Service

The same principle applies to selling. For most of us, creating a sales page and putting an offer out into the world is not naturally fun. It can sometimes be filled with anxiety.

But we must sell things in order to sustain a business.

The reframe? What if you saw the process of selling as a process of love and empathy? You connect with your audience, in order to listen to their problems and their desires.

When you create your offer, you aren’t just thinking about what you want to sell. You are leaning into your empathy for the person you want to serve. Every word you write is a practice of loving them more, of understanding them better.

The Soul’s Business

When you can reframe everything on your to-do list as a practice of expanding love and wisdom, the entire journey becomes so much more worthwhile.

Every task has the potential to be deeply joyful, because it is aligned with your soul’s mission.

Look at your to-do list. Every item can be practice for a virtue your soul came here to learn:

• Outreach trains courage.

• Analyzing data trains truth-seeking.

• Writing trains clarity.

• Launching a new offer trains patience and perseverance.

When you see your tasks through this lens, they become worthy of your life, not just your livelihood.

Leaning Into the “Hard” Things

We must do something hard every day if we want to grow. We have to lean into the difficult things, not avoid them. And we must also remember to rest and play, so we have the energy to face the next challenge.

Even after you make enough money to do what you love, there will still be challenges. There will always be hard things to face, just at a different level. The journey of practice never truly ends. The goal is not to eliminate difficulty, but to find purpose and joy within all of it.

Look at your own to-do list. Find the thing you don’t want to do. How can you reframe it as a practice that is worthy of your soul?
